UDST Represents Qatar’s Educational Vision at Expo 2025 Osaka

University showcases fusion of traditional maritime heritage and modern innovation through interactive exhibits and faculty-led workshops in Japan

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) proudly represented Qatar at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, demonstrating the nation’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and education. Under the global theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” UDST’s presence at The State of Qatar Pavilion showcased the country’s progressive vision for education and technology through engaging, interactive experiences that merged tradition with modernity.

Maritime Heritage Meets Modern Innovation

UDST’s exhibition featured a presentation inspired by the traditional Qatari dhow boat, serving as a symbol of how the nation’s maritime legacy continues to shape and inspire technological progress. Through interactive screens, visitors discovered the rich heritage of dhow boat craftsmanship and witnessed how these time-honored artisanal practices have transformed over time through innovation, engineering, and sustainable design. The exhibit allowed attendees to experience firsthand the integration of heritage and technology, demonstrating education’s role as a foundation for designing future societies.

Faculty-Led Workshops Address Global Issues

Throughout the week, UDST hosted live workshops conducted by faculty members that centered on STEM education, innovation, and food security—addressing global challenges through applied learning and research. The workshop sessions, entitled “Designing Future Societies Through Education and Innovation” and “Food Security and Sustainable Agritech,” provided participants with hands-on experiences showcasing UDST’s practical, research-driven educational approach. These activities drew diverse audiences and sparked meaningful conversations about education’s role in creating a sustainable future.

“Expo 2025 Osaka offered a distinguished global platform that enabled UDST to showcase its vision of connecting heritage and innovation in building the societies of the future. Our participation went beyond a simple educational showcase. It was a commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 and a meaningful engagement in a global dialogue focused on empowering societies, building sustainable systems, and empowering progress through education,” said Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST.
